During the Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Celebration stream, Square Enix confirmed that the new Final Fantasy VII series — that's Final Fantasy VII Remake and the newly announced Final Fantasy VII Rebirth — will be made up of three games. That means there's one more title to go after Rebirth supposedly releases in winter 2023.
The stream also spilled the beans that the third game is now in pre-production, which is certainly a plus if you want this trilogy to be complete before the sun implodes. If Square Enix can actually stick to the schedule — and let's face it, that's a big 'if' — then we could be seeing this new take on Final Fantasy VII out within the next few years. Hopefully we didn't just jinx it!

Remake, Rebirth, Revengeance.
Seriously, though. It'll probably be Rewind.
@TheCollector316 I was thinking Reunion.
I'm glad it's three games, they wouldn't have been able to fit all of it in just 2. I'm guessing it finishes at The City of the Ancients. Won't say anymore because of obvious spoilers.
@TheCollector316 With how this trilogy's story is going, we can't even rule out the third game being called Revengeance. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Raiden shows up and President Shinra gets buff on nanomachines.
Final Fantasy VII Remarkable That They’re Charging £70 a Pop for Three Games that Should’ve Been One? Just kidding. Well, kinda. Or how about Final Fantasy VII Rejoice if They Get it Out Before 2030?
It’ll be called FF7: Regretting Handing The Reins To Nomura
Reminds me of the .Hack// games. I do like this approach. I hope the 3rd part is actually a much larger scale considering that post-midgar pretty much allow you to explore the overworld. Regardless, I'm really happy with this decision as it allows for the games to be remade with more quality.
I just hope that Nomura won't make the FF7 lore too convoluted than what it was before
Does anyone know if Rebirth is now using Unreal Engine 5? I read somewhere they've switched to it but can't confirm.
Remake.
Rebirth.
Return to sender. (Elvis sim)
@AdamNovice Reunion actually makes sense considering that is how it will all lead to Sephiroth's revival from the OG game
Just in time to get the FF9 remake out then 😄
Im glad we can now put to rest all the shouting at Square Enix about how many parts this game was going to be. 3 sounds right given there were three discs in the original, although rumour has it they had planned 5 games, but the pressure from the public was too hot and they scaled back. Hopefully with their vision intact.
Cant wait to see where this leads
Can’t wait for them to compile all 3 games with new dlc then call it Final Fantasy VII Final Mix
@Ashina I'm betting it's Revival
It's probably going to be REmake
Final Fantasy VII Restart
Well, good to know this will actually finish on the PS5 and the joke people were saying after the first one won't happen (that it would take so long for them to release each part that the story wouldn't finish until the PS6).
The original game had three discs, this new story arc has three parts.
Genius!
I'm guessing 3 will be like Reincarnated?
Cool.word up son
Deffo Reunion, the first game talked about reunion 20 times at least.
Revision, Revival and Reserve are my three guesses for the third
FF7 Remake
FF7 Rebirth
FF7 Remember (Playing Part 1 a Decade Ago?)
@Ashina @AdamNovice @djhegzy Don't you think it would be weird calling PT 3 "Reunion" when they are calling Crisis Core Reunion? 🤷

Re-morse and Re-gret of pre-ordering the special edition for PS4 when i won't even get to play the full game without having to buy a whole new system.
Return - rewind - reverse. Where they will return to the timeline of the ps1 game? I think it will play out like that…we’re going to “save” Aerith in this one and then something terrible will happen and we will need to go back to another timeline and it will play out like the original.
@dustinprewitt You did play the full game.
@CWill97 I like Revival
Retold could be another one.
Seriously though, can't they just do to FF7 the same they are doing for crisis core? I feel like this would be less controversial if they did.
I had a feeling it was going to be in three parts back when it was announced to be in parts.
So everyone's just fine that this is getting split into 3 separate full price games?
Weird.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy VII Refund
I hope I won’t wait until year 2030 for the Final Fantasy VII Repackage Complete Edition.
Being the last one , maybe Resolution.
Maybe it won't be RE something? You never know.
Not sure why but I have a feeling Rebirth will be a shorter game than Remake, still be quite epic but probably have less side content and fewer chapters.
Not saying this is a bad thing or good thing but just a thing and only a hunch at that.
It will sure look pretty though, made exclusively for the PS5!
that works we have 3 cds on the original game , so 3 games sounds right cant wait to see what the mod community will do with this on the steam version.
Happy to hear official confirmation that the Remake saga is a Trilogy
@Ashina @AdamNovice As much as Reunion makes perfect sense for Part 3, @rjejr does raise a good point that Crisis Core's remaster is already using that subtitle.
I suspect they will use another word that starts with Re, but I doubt it'll be Revengeance either Resolution maybe?
Cloud returns final fantasy VII 😝
I hope they go all out whacky, call it something like... Revengeance, and make you play as a cyber ninja who collects spinal fluids. Wait, what?
Part 3 will 100% be called Reunion. Glad to see they're sticking to their guns continuing the seismic story changes from Remake. A straight remake would be so boring.
Man I’m gonna be 50 before this concludes
I'm going for Redeath for the final part
I expected 3 games. There were 3 discs in the PS1 game. The first game ended essentially where disc 1 ended. I've been stuck here since 1997 due to a glitch on my PS1 copy not activating the next town from the world map.
Sony seems clearly intent on PlayStation being synonymous with Final Fantasy, but it seems they only care about the mainline/major games. The new Crisis Core game is going to Xbox, but Final Fantasy XVI won't be, Final Fantasy VII Remake is still not on Xboxes, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth looks to be following the same pattern as its predecessor. Given how Sony clearly knows Final Fantasy is important to PlayStation and how they know nothing is safe from Microsoft's near-limitless money and questionable ethics, it's perplexing to me Sony doesn't buy Square-Enix to protect their games. The only thing I can think of is Sony fearing an escalation in the acquisition wars. So far, only Microsoft has been taking entire publishers off the table.
Revolver, Redemption
@Orpheus79V the full incomplete game.
Going to go with FF7-RE-Telling
Final Fantasy VII
Regenesis
@ShogunRok
You know.. I’m fine with that.
@zupertramp Well yeah, when each game has more content than an average game. Maybe that's because I grew up when games were £60 (£120 in modern money) and lasted 2 hours on average.
Wait three game is kind of short, while I don't want 7 part game, but at least I want 4 or maybe 5. I means, we just out of midgard in the first game, there's still golden saucer, wutai, costa del sol, and many more city to explore.
@Rob_230 Erm, a PS6 RE-mastered collection with all 3 FF7 Games by the time they finish it?!🤔😋
The good news is I might actually still be alive when they release the whole thing, then sell the "Definitive Edition" bundle with all the proper post-launch DLC inserted into the game. The bad news is I'm going to have to fight PS7 preorders for years to play it.
This has got to the the most ridiculously absurd milking of a video game I've ever seen, and I kind of hate myself for actually even wanting to participate in it. This game was revealed as the reason to buy a PS4 in 2014. It's 2022, "part 2" was announced for 2023, and "part 3" is "in production", for a total package price, including DLC known so far, of $225. We're celebrating this as a triumph, why exactly?
""It's very difficult to hit the jackpot, as it were. Once we've hit it, we have to get all the juice possible out of it".
-Yoichi Wada, former S-E CEO.
@KidBoruto Resolution
I like Resolution for the last game in a trilogy. Could maybe also be something Aerith related live Revive or Resuscitation? OK Resuscitation is WAY too long but Revive kinda works maybe.
@NEStalgia "This game was revealed as the reason to buy a PS4 in 2014"
That's pretty quick for Squenix, FFXV took a decade. 😝
@rjejr True but unlike 15 they didn't have to storyboard and design characters, they already had it, so you could say they've been designing this game since the mid-90s.
That's like 20,000 zipppers and buckles Nomura didn't have to create characters to place them on this time!
@BowTiesAreCool Crisis Core's remaster already has the Reunion subtitle.
I find it highly unlikely they would re-use it for Part 3.
@Matroska makes sense I guess. I was under the impression that this was essentially a remake of whatever the original game was, just split into thirds for... reasons. But then I'm unfamiliar with all things Final Fantasy so hardly surprised I'm oblivious.
@NEStalgia In the FFU (you can figure it out) every character is Michael Jackson.
@rjejr Wrong. Tifa has to be Janet.
@wiiware This is what I think: the FF7 remakes will have three main parts, but with DLCs interlinking them. Similar to how Integrade works.
@NEStalgia OK, every "identifying as not female" character.
I can live w/ Tifa as Janet.
@rjejr And Vivi is more Peter Gabriel...
@NEStalgia No, Vivi is still Michael Jackson.
@rjejr lol,I stand corrected....
They planned this so poorly. I think it's dumb that people who own a PlayStation 4, who don't plan on buying a ps5, get screwed.
@rjejr ...Can video game characters actually identify as anything? Politics & political correctness are destroying humanity. 😥
@Matroska wow, i have played games since 1987, & i don't think i ever played games that were only 2 hours long, & especially didn't buy games that were that long. Rental stores were for shorter games, IMO. I mainly played RPGs, which lasted me hundreds of hours each game, & they were actually cheaper back then (though the adjusted for inflation, and dollar values in the US may have meant they cost more as a percentage of income, I can't say for sure, but the dollar value was less).
